How Did This Accident Occur?
At this point, we don’t know why the Dodge crashed into the back of the Honda while getting on U.S. 75. Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the Dodge have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism?
Authorities should consider questions like this as they investigate this crash. That means going over physical evidence, vehicle data, witness statements and available video footage to reconstruct this accident, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
If investigators think a mechanical problem played a role in this accident, a qualified expert should examine the vehicles before they are repaired or scrapped. Few law enforcement agencies have the time or training for such inspections, but the Honda driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
