Accident Report

Van Alstyne, TX — September 18, 2026, Kevin Nolan and three other people were injured in a truck accident at about 11:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 175.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a northbound 2017 Ram 1500 crashed into the back of a 2016 Kenworth semi-truck near exit 49.

Ram driver Kevin Nolan and three passengers —a 54-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl — were seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. Three other children in the pickup were not hurt.

The truck driver was not injured, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Collin County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people who read about this crash probably would assume the Ram driver was at fault, but what if he had a medical emergency? What if the pickup had a problem with its brakes? What if the truck stopped suddenly? I don’t know what happened here, but I do know the only way to know for sure is to wait until the investigation is complete.

Investigators will work to reconstruct this crash by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.

If authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash, a qualified expert should examine both vehicles in a laboratory setting before they are repaired or scrapped. Few law enforcement agencies have the time or training for such inspections, but those affected by this crash deserve to know as much as possible about what caused it.
