How Did This Accident Occur?
Late night single-vehicle accidents tend to raise a lot of speculation about things like distracted driving, unsafe speeds, and fatigue. While it’s common for this sort of crash to involve driver mistakes, it’s important to let the evidence tell the story. For example, this may have involved some kind of unusual vehicle defect. If the driver’s vehicle had issues they couldn’t have known about, that might not come to light with anything short of an exhaustive inspection of the car using proper tools in a lab setting. Frankly, that isn’t the sort of thing authorities tend to do on their own.
Again, that’s not exactly a common factor. The point, though, is that victims don’t always get to tell their side of the story before authorities put out these preliminary reports. So, getting the full story might not happen without independent investigators stepping in and looking at things from all angles. Right now, I don’t see any reason why this crash would be an exception to that.
