Accident Report

Kaufman County, TX — August 29, 2026, Juana Chavez Ojeda was killed and a baby was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 4:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 80.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2018 Infiniti QX30 collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado while heading east near the exit to F.M. 460, causing the pickup to hit a concrete barrier and overturn. The Infiniti crashed into the barrier as well.

Chevrolet driver Juana Chavez Ojeda, 39, died from injuries suffered in the crash near Forney, according to the report, while the 8-month-old baby riding with her suffered serious injuries.

The Infiniti driver, a 25-year-old Converse man, was charged with driving while impaired after the crash, the report states. He and two passengers were not hurt.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Kaufman County crash at this time.

Authorities likely will investigate this crash like any other fatal accident, but they should take a closer look if blood tests confirm the Infiniti driver was intoxicated. They should try to figure out where he had been drinking before the crash.
