Glasscock County, TX — May 6, 2025, Joshua Lopez was killed as the result of a work accident which took place at an oil and gas site just off Highway 139.
An OSHA statement shows that the accident happened along County Road 185, off the corner of TX-139 and County Road 110, southeast of Midland.
The OSHA inspection detail did not specify what killed 33-year-old Joshua Lopez. In the statement, OSHA listed three alleged violation citations and a recommended penalty. The current case status is “open.”

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Some may find it unusual that OSHA would release so few details about a deadly work accident. However, OSHA doesn’t really prioritize informing the public or even families for that matter. Their priority is to look for violations and issue fines. Their efforts alone will rarely be enough to completely resolve a fatal work accident. That’s especially true in Texas, considering we have the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the country.
Ensuring families can navigate that legal maze takes a lot of evidence, tools, and strategy that typically only comes from professionals completely independent of the authorities. In my experience, families who have professionals looking out for their needs first and foremost are the ones who will see fair resolutions.
