Houston County, TX — October 31, 2024, Jose Gonzalez-Lopez and another person were killed while one was injured in a car accident at 6:30 p.m. along S.H. 19.
According to authorities, 43-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Lopez was traveling in a southbound Chevrolet Traverse on State Highway 19 in the vicinity south of County Road 4015 when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Honda Odyssey occupied by two women ages 64 and 57 failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left of center, entering the oncoming lane of traffic. This resulted in a collision with the southbound Chevrolet Traverse.
Gonzalez-Lopez and the 64-year-old woman from the minivan suffered fatal injuries in the accident, according to reports. The other woman from the minivan sustained reportedly serious injuries, and was transported to a local medical facility.
