UPDATE (November 7, 2023): Reports indicate that 49-year-old Joey Maes was traveling in a westbound Toyota Camry on Erskine Street when he ran a stop sign at the Milwaukee Avenue intersection before going off the roadway. The Camry reportedly slid sideways before beginning to roll, striking a wooden fence before coming to a stop on its roof. The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.

Lubbock, TX — October 23, 2023, one person was killed in a single-car accident at 2:05 in the morning along Erskine Avenue.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred in the block of Erskine Avenue between Milwaukee Avenue and Upland Ave.
According to authorities, emergency services were called to the scene of an accident described as a “traffic crash with injuries.” However, upon arrival, there was one person pronounced dead at the scene; no other injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with this accident.
The westbound lanes along the 6600 block of Erskine Avenue were temporarily closed as a result of the incident. The cause of this accident is still unknown; the incident is under investigation and there are no further details available at this point in time.
