Wayne County, KY — February 18, 2025, Two people were injured following a car accident that occurred at around 6:54 P.M. on KY 90.
An investigation is underway into a car accident that left two people hospitalized on February 18th. According to official reports, Glenna Durkie was travelling in a Ford Explorer on KY 90 and allegedly turned onto Cumberland Crossing. While turning, the Ford cut into the path of a Jeep Cherokee operated by Hailey Hutton, resulting in a collision.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they found that both drivers had sustained serious injuries and they were transported to the hospital for treatment. At this time there has been no further information released from the accident, including the status of their injuries, however this remains an ongoing investigation and more details may be released by authorities in the future.

When I read about a crash like this, my first thought is that I hope investigators can provide clear answers for the loved ones of those involved. A collision involving a vehicle turning into the path of another raises important questions about visibility, right-of-way, and whether all factors leading up to the crash have been fully examined. While initial reports confirm what happened, they don’t necessarily explain why it happened. To truly understand the cause of the crash, three critical questions must be asked.
First, have authorities thoroughly investigated the crash? Law enforcement will typically document the scene, take witness statements, and assess contributing factors such as traffic signals, road design, and visibility at the intersection. However, a deeper analysis may be necessary. Was the intersection clearly marked and designed in a way that allowed for safe turning? Were weather conditions, speed, or traffic congestion factors in the crash? A full accident reconstruction could help determine whether road design, traffic patterns, or other external conditions played a role.
Second, has anyone looked into the possibility of a vehicle defect? When a crash occurs during a turn, people often assume it was simply a misjudgment by the driver, but mechanical failures—such as brake malfunctions, steering issues, or acceleration problems—can also contribute. Additionally, given the severity of the impact, investigators should assess whether the vehicles’ safety features functioned as designed. If a defect played a role, it’s critical that both vehicles are preserved and examined before they are scrapped or repaired, as key evidence could be lost.
