Accident Report
September 7, 2026, two people sustained injuries following a garbage truck accident at around 3:30 a.m. along State Route 32.
Officials said in preliminary statements that the accident occurred near Lawshe Road, just west of Peebles. It appears the incident began when a Chevy Trailblazer somehow veered from westbound lanes of the highway into eastbound lanes. There, the vehicle overturned before coming to a stop. Then, a garbage truck crashed into the Chevy.
Due to the accident, the driver of the Chevy and the driver of the garbage truck both reportedly had serious injuries. Right now, additional details about the accident are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
What can be challenging about this question is that it may need to be two separate answers. Depending on the timing of these events, this could be treated more like two accidents than one.
So, for example, investigators may find that something like a tire blowout let to the Chevy losing control and landing on oncoming lanes. Then, if there wasn’t enough time or visibility for the approaching garbage truck driver to avoid hitting the Chevy, the hypothetical tire blowout might also be the cause of that collision. However, if evidence shows enough time passed and the wrecked vehicle was visible enough for the truck driver to avoid, it’s possible other factors prevented that driver from avoiding the secondary collision.
This is why it can be concerning when I find authorities automatically treating crashes like this as though there will be just one single factor to tie everything together. There could be more to the story, and it’s important to know if investigations are securing enough evidence to account for that possibility.
