Accident Report

Yoakum, TX — January 18, 2026, Emilio Garcia was killed in a hit-and-run accident at about 12:20 a.m. in the 300 block of South Street.

Authorities said a 2016 Ram truck was heading north when it hit a pedestrian near East Hugo Street and then drove away.

The pedestrian, 30-year-old Emilio Garcia, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.

The Ram driver, who was identified with help of surveillance video from a nearby convenience store, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the crash, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the DeWitt County crash at this time.
