Accident Report

September 3, 2026, Elizabeth Rozon and Jenny Killough were killed in a truck accident sometime in the morning along State Highway 33.

According to authorities, 70-year-old Elizabeth Rozon and 64-year-old Jenny Killough were traveling in the eastbound lanes of S.H. 33 in the vicinity east of the Broadway intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Jeep was purportedly struck by a septic truck. The impact apparently caused the Jeep to overturn. Video of the scene that has been in news reports show that it came to a stop resting on its side.

Both Rozon and Killough reportedly sustained fatal injuries over the course of the accident. The person who had been behind the wheel of the septic truck suffered injuries of unknown severity, as well, according to reports; they were transported to an area medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.

Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Without more details, there will doubtless be some who make the assumption that this accident must have been caused by driver error. That is a safe bet, statistically speaking; human error does play a role in the majority of motor vehicle accidents. I’m sure investigators will be looking into whether or not things like distraction, fatigue, impairment, et cetera were causal factors. Personally, though, I’m not willing to settle on that conclusion before the investigation is complete. Why? Because over the last three decades I have seen plenty of cases in which evidence of less likely causes were unearthed through thorough investigation.

That being said, I’m certainly not trying to imply that I am somehow privy to information about this accident that is not yet available to the public. As far as I am aware, driver error remains on the table as a possible cause. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the wreck could have been a result of something gone wrong with one or the other of the involved vehicles. Was there a tire blowout? What about brake failure? Have throttle issues or steering mechanism problems been considered? Just because these things are not very likely does not mean they should automatically be ruled out without being given proper consideration.

Beyond that, there is the fact that the Jeep overturned. It’s not widely known, but the rollover tests that car manufacturers are required to pass do not actually do a very good job of simulating real-world scenarios. I’d like to know if maybe a design flaw with the Jeep contributed to the fact that it overturned. There is a possibility that this accident might not have been a fatal one had the Jeep managed to remain safely upright.

Along those same lines, how well did the safety features of the Jeep perform in the wreck? Did the airbags deploy properly and in a timely manner? What about the seatbelts? Did they function the way they were designed to? If these things were faulty, then it is possible that the victims’ injuries ended up being more severe than they should have been.

In-depth vehicle inspections done on the Jeep and the septic truck by trained professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to shed light on any mechanical malfunctions, product defects, or design flaws that had a hand in the wreck. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—get those done. That way nothing important will inadvertently be allowed to slip through the cracks. After all, when everything is said and done, the loved ones left behind by the victims deserve to be given a clear and detailed understanding not only of how the wreck occurred, but also why things ended up the way they did. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
