Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Something that surprises people about work accidents in Texas is that OSHA is rarely the beginning and end of the process. Despite what many think, there isn’t always some automatic process for families to get the benefits or the resolution they need after a loved one dies on the job. In reality, Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country. That usually means there have to be significant investigations into what happened and what path lies ahead for the family. OSHA tends to solely focus on their own priorities. So as concerning as these reports are, experience tells me they’re likely only the tip of the iceberg.
