Police arrested a 26-year-old woman at the intersection of Ridge Road and South Tower Road after finding her near an unoccupied 2002 Toyota Camry with damage consistent with the crash, authorities said. Her driver’s license was inside the car.

The woman was charged with intoxication manslaughter after police determined she had been intoxicated at the time of the crash, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hidalgo County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
The indication that alcohol was involved in an accident means a more thorough investigation is needed.
In addition to figuring out how the Toyota hit the pedestrian, investigators should look into where the driver got her alcohol because Texas law holds bars or liquor stores responsible if they served someone who was obviously intoxicated, then went on to hurt someone.
Connecting these dots usually takes a third-party investigation, since most law enforcement agencies don’t have the resources for such in-depth probes.
