El Paso, TX — March 19, 2023, David Martinez was injured following an accident where two vehicles crashed along Loop 375.
Authorities said that the incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. along northbound lanes of Loop 375 in the area of Vista Del Sol Drive.
Details suggest that 64-year-old David Martinez was in a GMC Sierra traveling northbound along the highway when a Lexus crashed into the pickup. This caused Martinez’s vehicle to lose control and overturn.
Due to the collision, David Martinez apparently had incapacitating injuries. the other driver did not have reported injuries. The suggestion was made that the Lexus driver may have been drinking, but this has not been confirmed.

If evidence does show alcohol was a factor here, then there could be a lot more to this crash than what’s currently known to the public. It’s not always as simple as a driver getting a day in court. It can also expand to include local businesses if they illegally over-served the driver. Servers can face criminal charges, businesses can face liability in the civil courts, and they can also face fines, license suspensions, and even closure through TABC actions. It’s not clear if that all happened here, but that’s going to depend on more thorough investigations than what I’ve seen so far.
