February 6, 2026, three people were injured due to an alleged drunk driver accident at approximately 3:45 a.m. along Cesar Chavez Street.

According to authorities, two people—a 35-year-old man who had allegedly been under the influence of alcohol at the time, and a 29-year-old woman—were traveling in an eastbound Mazda on Cesar Chavez Road at the Trinity Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that the Mazda collided with the rear-end of an eastbound Autocar truck occupied by a 42-year-old man. The pedestrian and the woman from the Mazda reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve seen accidents like this too many times over the course of my career. Someone who had no business being behind the wheel of the vehicle ended up hurting themselves and others. One thing that I can’t help but ask is, “how did they come to be in that condition to begin with?” The number of alcohol related crashes that I’ve analyzed over the years gives me a unique perspective. I know that, sometimes, people are overserved at either restaurants or bars when they should be cut off. It happens with enough regularity that Dram Shop Law has been put into place in order to hold people accountable for their part in wrecks like this one, even if they are not physically at the scene. Let me know in a comment whether or not this is the first time you have heard of Dram Shop Law and what your thoughts are on its efficacy.
