Accident Report

Lubbock County, TX — July 10, 2026, Burl Trotter and Sammy Zapata were killed in a car accident at about 4 p.m. on F.M. 2641 south of Shallowater.

Authorities said an eastbound 2011 Toyota Camry allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with a 2022 Dodge Ram that was going north of F.M. 179, causing the pickup to overturn.

Dodge driver Burl Trotter, 87, of Littlefield and Toyota driver Sammy Zapata, 19, of Lubbock died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Lubbock County crash at this time.
