Accident Report
New York, NY — September 28, 2026, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run truck accident at about 10:50 a.m. on West 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan.
Authorities said a dump truck was heading west toward Seventh Avenue when it hit a bicyclist without stopping.
The bicyclist, a 50-year-old woman whose name has not been made public yet, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
Police were able to locate a dump truck at Fifth Avenue and 35th Street, but no arrests have been made at this point, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the New York County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Police likely are gathering physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage as they investigate this accident, but their investigation likely cannot be completed until they track down the dump truck.
Data from the truck’s engine control module and statements from its driver will help form a clear picture of how events leading to this crash unfolded, showing if the driver saw the bicycle and whether it tried to stop or steer before the collision.
This probe should answer any lingering the bicyclist’s family may have about this accident, or they may opt to have an independent investigator look over the evidence.
