How Did This Accident Occur?
I hope police are able to track down the suspect vehicle and its driver, so the injured cyclist can get some answers about what happened on SE 6th Avenue.
In my experience, it will be hard to figure out what caused this crash without the unknown vehicle. Specifically, data from its engine control module, which will show speed, braking and steering inputs at the time.
Authorities should be able to use other tools from crash investigations — physical evidence, witness statements and video footage from nearby security cameras — to help identify and locate the vehicle.
