Accident Report

July 6, 2026, one person was injured following a car versus bicycle accident at around 10:57 p.m. along South Padre Island Drive.

According to preliminary details from authorities, the incident happened in the area of the South Padre Island Drive and Airline Road intersection.

Investigators said that a 25-year-old man was on a bicycle going along SPID. While doing so, a Toyota Highlander going northwest reportedly ran a red light. Doing so, the Highlander struck the cyclist. Due to this, the bicycle rider was seriously injured.

Authorities say they recommended charging the driver for running the light. No further information is available at this time.
