How Did This Accident Occur?
When it comes to accidents involving disabled vehicles, there’s always a central question of whether or not that vehicle was clearly visible and reasonably avoidable. I want to say up front that I do not know those details because it takes a proper accident reconstruction of the circumstances surrounding the crash to get those answers.
However, I will say that this happened on a pretty straight, wide highway during daylight hours during rush hour when traffic is usually moving slower than normal. In my experience, a reasonably prudent driver traveling in those conditions should be able to see a stopped vehicle ahead of them and at least be able to stop before hitting them. The fact that didn’t happen hear makes me wonder if distraction or unsafe speeds played a role in this crash. Or, were there other unusual factors that simply couldn’t have been avoided?
To put this another way, this crash wasn’t likely just an unavoidable accident simply because someone’s car broke down. There needs to be a clear explanation of why the approaching Cadillac couldn’t avoid the disabled car and whether or not that was something the approaching driver could have avoided. Either authorities can take this crash seriously and get those answers, or independent professionals may have to step in and fill in the blanks.
Did anyone see the crash or pass by the scene afterward? Tell me in the comments if I’m missing any important details.
