Accident Report

New Braunfels, TX — September 12, 2026, Alex Nunez was killed and a child was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 7 p.m. on F.M. 725.

Authorities said a pickup collided head-on with a sedan near Union Wine Road.

Sedan driver Alex Nunez died at the scene of the crash, according to authorities, while his 3-year-old daughter was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup driver was charged with intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the crash, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Guadalupe County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities likely will investigate this crash like any other fatal accident, but they should look beyond the scene of this collision if blood tests confirm the pickup driver was intoxicated. They should try to figure out where he had been drinking.

That matters because under Texas law alcohol providers share responsibility for injuries caused by patrons who was served while obviously intoxicated before they got behind the wheel.

I don’t know if that is what happened in this instance, but the sedan driver’s family deserves to know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.

Unfortunately, most law enforcement agencies don’t dig that deep in alcohol-related crashes, so the family may have to hire an independent investigator to find answers for them.
