How Did This Accident Occur?
Wrong-way accidents like this usually involve allegations of alcohol use, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. That means authorities must consider other possible causes for this crash.
Maybe the driver of the southbound SUV was distracted or fatigued. Maybe it moved into the northbound lane to avoid another vehicle or an object in the road. Maybe the Chevrolet had an issue with its steering mechanism.
A thorough investigation should provide the driver of the other SUV and his family with a clear picture of what caused this crash, rather than a bunch of maybes.
Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage. Cell phone records may show what each driver was doing at the time, while a qualified expert should examine these SUVs in a laboratory setting if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
