Amarillo, TX — May 4, 2023, a woman sustained injuries due to an 18-wheeler accident that happened at around 1:00 a.m. along I-40.
Authorities from the Amarillo Police Department said that the collision occurred along the eastbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Crockett Street.
According to their initial statements, a woman was driving a vehicle eastbound along I-40 at the time when the vehicle crossed paths with a semi-trailer. Authorities say that the woman’s vehicle crashed into the back of the semi-trailer. They did not give any specific details about what led to the crash. After the crash, it appears the semi continued driving and left the scene.
Authorities did not locate the truck at time of reporting, and a description is not currently available. The woman injured in the crash was said to have injuries that were life-threatening. Her current condition is unclear. It appears no one else was hurt. Investigations are ongoing.
